Nucleosynthesis in evolved stars with the NACRE∗compilation

چکیده
Nucleosynthesis in evolved (RGB and AGB) low-mass stars is reviewed under the light of the reaction rates recommended in the NACRE compilation (Angulo et al. 1999). We use a parametric model of stellar nucleosynthesis to investigate the uncertainties that still exist nowadays on the nuclear data and to give a critical point of view on the resulting evolution of the chemical abundances. We discuss in particular (i) the NeNa and MgAl modes of hydrogen burning in the context of the chemical anomalies observed in RGB globular cluster stars, (ii) the helium combustion in a thermal pulse of an

Big-bang Nucleosynthesis with the Nacre Compilation
Observations of light isotopes have flourished and in particular, high quality Li observations in the halo stars have been accumulated. Thus, it is timely to reassess the determination of the baryonic density of the Universe in the light of advances in nuclear physics and astronomical observations. (For details see K. Olive, these proceedings.) Most of the important reactions for Li production ...
متن کاملNucleosynthesis in Intermediate Mass Agb Stars
We present a summary of the main sites for nucleosynthesis in intermediate mass Asymptotic Giant Branch (AGB) stars. We then discuss some detailed evolutionary models and how these have been used to create a synthetic evolution code which calculates the nucleosynthesis very rapidly, enabling us to investigate changes in some uncertain parameters in AGB evolution, such as mass-loss and dredge-up...
متن کاملThe Nacre Thermonuclear Reaction Compilation and Big Bang Nucleosynthesis
The theoretical predictions of big bang nucleosynthesis (BBN) are dominated by uncertainties in the input nuclear reaction cross sections. In this paper, we examine the impact on BBN of the recent compilation of nuclear data and thermonuclear reactions rates by the NACRE collaboration. We confirm that the adopted rates do not make large overall changes in central values of predictions, but do a...
متن کاملNon-explosive hydrogen and helium burnings: Abundance predictions from the NACRE reaction rate compilation⋆
The abundances of the isotopes of the elements from C to Al produced by the non-explosive CNO, NeNa and MgAl modes of hydrogen burning, as well as by helium burning, are calculated with the thermonuclear rates recommended by the European compilation of reaction rates for astrophysics (NACRE). The impact of nuclear physics uncertainties on the derived abundances is discussed in the framework of ...
متن کاملNuclear Reaction Rates and Carbon Star Formation
We have studied how the third dredge-up and the carbon star formation in low-mass Asymptotic Giant Branch stars depends on certain key nuclear reaction rates. We find from a set of complete stellar evolution calculations of a 2M⊙ model with Z = 0.01 including mass loss, that varying either the N(p, γ)O or the triple-α reaction rate within their uncertainties as given in the NACRE compilation re...
